The Multinational Andean Project:
A joint funded project with Canadian International Development Agency, the Geological Survey of Canada and the National Geoscience Agencies of Argentina, Bolivia, Chile & Peru.

Dear "Potential Participant"

Magnetic and Radiometric surveys are recognized techniques for mapping geological faults , alteration zones and contacts, and for locating and defining intrusives such as those that may host porphyry deposits. As such they provide fundamental information for geological mapping and exploration programs by identifying and placing in regional context possible targets.

As you know, the Multinational Andean Project(MAP), The Sevicio Nacional de Geologia y Mineria de Chile (SERNAGEOMIN), The Servicio Nacional de Geologia y Mineria de Bolivia (SERGEOMIN) and The Instituto Geologico Minero y Metalurgico de Peru (INGEMMET)are planning a consortium airborne magnetic/spectrometry survey in an area covering the Chile, Bolivia, Peru border (attached digram). The area covers 61000 sq. kms. Participating companies will become members of a technical committee which will determine survey parameters and products and will contribute to contractor selection. The survey will be contracted through Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) and managed by MAP. Survey specifications will be to the standard of the Geological Survey of Canada. Participation cost is $75000.00 US for which participating companies will receive one year exclusive use of the data before release by SERNAGEOMIN, SERGEOMIN and INGEMMET. Please see MAP's web page at pma-map.com for further information on MAP and the survey.

Over the past seven months we have been discussing this project with you and other potential participants and we are now at the point where we must shortly begin the tendering process in order for the contractor to be in place to start the survey during optimum conditions next April.

Accordingly we would appreciate it if you could inform us of your intent to participate by December 17th, 1999. Following that we will finalize the agreement and commence the tendering process with PWGSC. We look forward to working with you on this project.
